The 10^th annual Salute to Excellence, held in the Virginia Portuguese Community Center, Manassas, VA, recognizes educators and supporting employees who have made outstanding contributions to the City of Manassas educational system in the last year.

Holly Dufrene, 3rd grade teacher at Baldwin Elementary School, was named Outstanding Teacher of the Year. “As a teacher, I need to find the positives in all my children and capitalize on them. Teaching and learning need to be fun!”

The following awards were presented at the gala:

• Agnes Meyer Outstanding Teacher Award - Holly Dufrene
• City of Manassas Teacher of the Year - Ann Marie Stephens
• 2005 National Board Certified Teacher - Karen Etherington
• City of Manassas First Year Teacher Award - Justin Fisher
• City of Manassas Support Employee Excellence Award - Michele Hutton
• Distinguished Educational Leadership Award - Dr. Perry Pope
